Save Time as a Mom Entrepreneur: Your Ultimate Guide

Save Time as a Mom Entrepreneur: Your Ultimate Guide

I’m excited to talk about something we all need more of—time. Specifically, how you can save time as a mom entrepreneur: your ultimate guide to make the most of the limited hours you have each day.

Why Saving Time is Essential

As mom entrepreneurs, we wear so many hats. Our days are filled with juggling kids, managing our homes, and running our businesses. It can be overwhelming. That’s why saving time and managing it efficiently is crucial. It’s not just about getting things done but also about finding that elusive work-life harmony.

The Power of Teamwork

I want to start with a quote that resonates deeply with me: “I’m a true believer in the strength of teamwork, in the power of dreams, and in the absolute necessity of a support structure.” – Julie Payette. This quote perfectly captures the essence of what I believe is vital for success, whether it’s in your personal life, business, or both.

For a long time, I struggled with asking for help. I didn’t want to be a burden. I thought I could and should do it all. But the truth is, we can’t do everything ourselves, and it’s okay to admit that. In fact, it’s a relief! Building a support structure around you is not just necessary—it’s empowering.

Finding the Right Support

So, how can you save time and build that essential support structure? Here are my top tips:

  1. List Your Regular Tasks: Write down everything you do on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Include household chores, business tasks, appointments, and even the little things like meal planning. Getting it all out of your head and onto paper (or a digital calendar) helps you see where your time is going.
  2. Highlight Time-Consuming Tasks: Mark the tasks that take up a lot of your time or energy. These might be things you don’t enjoy, or that feel like they’re holding you back from moving forward in your business or personal goals.
  3. Look for Patterns: Once you’ve highlighted those tasks, see if there’s a theme. Are you spending too much time on social media, creating content, or doing laundry? Identifying these patterns will help you understand where you need the most help.
  4. Start Small: You don’t have to hire a full-time team or spend a fortune right away. Start with a small task or hire someone for a few hours a month to help with specific things that are taking up too much of your time. This could be a VA for your business, a house cleaner, or even a babysitter.
  5. Match Communication and Values: When you’re ready to bring someone on board, make sure they align with your communication style and values. Whether you prefer texting, emails, or face-to-face meetings, it’s important that your new team member is comfortable with that mode of communication. Also, ensure that they share your values and work ethic. This alignment will make working together smoother and more productive.

My Personal Journey

I had a coach on my list for two years before I was able to hire them. It wasn’t in my budget right away, but I kept them in mind as a goal. When I finally reached a point where I could work with them, it felt like such an achievement. It’s important to be patient and strategic in your investments, whether it’s in your business, your home, or yourself.

What’s Your Biggest Goal?

I’d love to hear from you—what’s your biggest goal right now? Is it growing your business? Buying back time? Managing your energy? Share it with me in the comments, and let’s talk about how you can reach that goal.

Wrapping It Up

To recap, here are the steps to saving time and knowing when you’re ready to build your support team:

  1. Write out your regular tasks.
  2. Highlight the ones that take the most time or energy.
  3. Identify any themes.
  4. Start small with outsourcing.
  5. Match your communication style and values with those of your team.

Remember, teamwork makes the dream work. It’s not just a cliché—it’s a strategy for success.

How can you be brave?

When I was pregnant with my first, I was facing being a single mom, living at home with my parents, not having a job (tendonitis meant I had to leave the serving job I had had for a long time), and a cheating fiance who was marrying the girl pregnant only 6 months after myself. 😬
Let’s just say confidence and certainty were not my best qualities at the time. But a positive outlook still was.
I was bringing a little life into the world surrounded by some of my favorite people and with SO much love. I was quite employable and lucky to be able to stay with my parents until I got back on my feet. And, honestly, mama was savvveeeddd the trouble of dealing with that unappreciative guy.
I also had the wherewithal to gather information for Treyton, later on, should he want answers to who his biological father was — all in the baby book and my noggin’. 🙌 patting myself on the back 🙌
With T-man, I was SO regimented and followed all the guidelines and advice and tips and read allllll the things and watched the shows and played classical music to my belly and tried making his own food and this and that and the other thing. Seriously, I could not have been more rigid and worried that I was going to do something wrong.

Fast forward to Tavie – the third child.

Sorry, kid. (I’m not sure if that apology is for Treyton or Tavie, to be frank.)
She definitely gets more leniency. Partially, because I’ve learned to relax and partially because the other two siphoned enough energy out of me that she gets the remainder after those years.
However, it also taught me how to trust myself, believe I’m doing the best of my ability every day, and that my parenting is unique to me.
I am BRAVE because my kiddos have helped shape the steady ground I now stand on.
Pieces that I’ve read, listened to, watched in women around me (family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers), and my own thoughts have all come together to create MY way of mothering.

And THAT is a beautiful thing.

Sure, I still have moments of weakness and times I need a hand or encouragement. Yet, I’m SURE that whatever decision I make is going to be the right one in that crossroad (and there are many crossroads).
Do you feel confident that you have formed a steady ground to stand on?
