Growth is vital in life.

Growing and learning never ends. Or shouldn’t, anyway.

Give yourself space for growth to happen. Who you were as a new mom will likely not be the mom are you after a second baby or a few years after you have your baby.

You learn routines, expand your wealth of knowledge, and learn to trust your instincts in situations.

There is a person completely dependent upon you for their well-being. It can be VERY overwhelming and a lot to bear.

That’s why having your village to turn to and rely on in times of trouble or with questions (simple or complex) is important.

Being able to release some of the stress and pressure in a safe place makes a big difference.

But also a place where you can share successes where others will celebrate with you, understand how BIG one less tantrum or only having 2 accidents a day truly is.

That can feel like an extension of home. Your village needs to be sturdy for when there are quakes, but flexible enough to mold to changes.

What is one way you have seen yourself grow after having children?

Remember, PAVE your way.

Keep It Simple Sister

Keep It Simple Sister

Affiliate - When it's Time to Add a Team Member

You’ve heard KISS before, but this is my version: Keep It Simple Sister.

Sometimes to make things simpler, you have to take a moment to sit in the complexities first.

By that, I simply mean you have to put your standard operating procedures (SOP’s) in place to help streamline processes.

Mom Elevated is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.

Honestly, this fits both with mom-life in general and entrepreneurial life.

An SOP provides step-by-step instructions on how you do a task.

What this does is allow you to jog your memory when you are in the throes of things and need to quickly accomplish a task OR to hand it off to someone without having to “teach” them every detail. You’re basically handing them a silver platter and giving them a leg up to exceeding your expectations.

So, while it may seem “busier” at the forefront of setting up all those systems, once you have them in place, you are able to truuullllyyyy bask in the glory of simplifying your life to almost run itself (wouldn’t that be nice??).

What is a system you have in place that makes your life/business simpler?

5 Lessons I Learned Earning $55K in my Business in One Year

5 Lessons I Learned Earning $55K in my Business in One Year

Affiliate - When it's Time to Add a Team Member

This list is going to be my new favorite to review over and over – and likely yours, too!

For a little reference, I’ve been in business for about 8 years. Every journey is unique and this is in no way, shape, or form to make you feel like you SHOULD be at this point or that you can’t be BEYOND where I am already. It is just a reflection, some notes, and takeaways to be helpful, motivational, or let you reminisce.

As for the 5 lessons I learned earning $55K in my business in one year:

Mom Elevated is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.

1️⃣Perspective is everything – Many times last year, I got in a funk about where I was, how I was doing, the progress I was making. But I made some HUGE progress that I wasn’t acknowledging or disregarded any positives because my brain was already moving to the next goal before giving credit to the current goal.
2️⃣Celebrate the successes – I remember starting at $300 or less a month and being really excited about that amount. Somehow my brain mixxed that I’ve over 10x’d that amount because I lost sigh of celebrating each success! It’s easy to schluff them off, but don’t. Recognizing those wins keeps you motivated, helps you create new goals, and assess what worked and what may need to be tweaked. Also, just taking a moment to be giddy about what you’re doing!
3️⃣We innately overcomplicate things – Over and over you hear “business gets to be easy” and I kept going, “okay, great! When?” haha But ultimately, I’m realizing it’s because we think we’re making things simpler or just overanalyze and overthink every decision. Sure, it gets to be easy once you work past all the roadblocks and things you are sabotaging yourself in doing.
4️⃣Micromanaging is detrimental – Control is a hard thing to relinquish. Especially when you worked so hard to create and foster this business from the ground up. When you decide to hire someone, micromanaging has no place. You need to trust the person you hired to do the job you hired them for, and if they don’t do it or don’t do it well, you need to decide if you will spend the time to teach them properly or replace them. But, if you did your due diligence, then the chances are you know they are capable of delivering good on the results you’re wanting.
5️⃣Change is a-okay – Part of growth is evolving. You might expect business ideas and paths to morph and change, but the unexpected piece that sneaks up on you is how important the personal development alterations are for expansion to happen. It’s not always uncomfortable (another thing you hear often – you have to get out of your comfort zone, but sometimes it’s not uncomfortable so much as just new and different and something you need to practice). Reshaping and reframing yourself and the business as you learn more about each.

Is there anything that stuck out to you in the list or that you think may be missing? Happy to hear your thoughts!

Why I Pay My Team Well (and why it’s good for my biz in the long run too!)

Why I Pay My Team Well (and why it’s good for my biz in the long run too!)

Affiliate - When it's Time to Add a Team Member

Compensation is important. Here’s why I pay my team well (and why it’s good for my biz in the long run too!).

Money is always a hot topic.

So long as it keeps lights on, food in bellies, and gas in the tanks, I don’t see it diminishing anytime soon.

Having been on the receiving end of feeling undervalued many a time over the years, I try to avoid that when I hire. I appreciate the hustle, trust me.

Mom Elevated is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.

When I started, I gave discounts, breaks, “deals,” whatever I thought would make the sale as I thought I NEEDED any work and was happy to roll over to get the work. I’ve even had clients approach for special rates on tasks they deem “not as difficult.”

Knowing what I pay for applications, tools, and coaches, I refuse to believe that the help I require is “too easy” to pay them well for the work they do, too. If I don’t have the time to do it myself, it’s an investment I’m making to continue to run my business smoothly.

If there’s someone in particular I want to work with, I find out their prices and I put that on my list so I know what I need to reach in order to use their services. That’s how I:

hired coaches

→ started working with an accountant

→ purchased any programs to use

→ brought anyone on to my team

This process allows everyone to feel valued, eliminate negotiating, honoring each party’s time and energy, and growing in a very authentic way that feels good to me.

Each investment acts as a goal on my journey and when I’m able to check them off, I know I’m still headed in the direction I intended to be headed. A new milestone reached is supporting someone else while still building my business.

That’s not saying that once you reach the initial goal, that parameters haven’t changed – and adjustments may need to happen, but you’ll be that much closer to your goals and it is SO satisfying when you reach them with what I consider to be integrity and care.

And, as I grow, I provide raises to those who grow with me. It doesn’t remove tough decisions or hard times, but it does make the successes that much richer.

Growing Pains (How to Deal)

Growing Pains (How to Deal)

As you navigate business ownership and motherhood, you’re bound to have growing pains (how to deal!).

Growth can be painful because it stretches us and often makes us acknowledge and work on our own shortcomings.

Yet, we can ease the pain a bit by anticipating a few of these ahead of time.
