Getting caught up in the difficult parts of the day proves easy. BUT sometimes we just need to nudge ourselves a little to get out of the funk. We all have bad days, but if you can get yourself to smile, you will undoubtedly cheer yourself up. The saying goes: Laugh and the world laughs with you. A smile or a laugh can truly be contagious. If you haven’t seen it already, and even if you have, check out this Coca-Cola Commercial. It’s one of my favorites that truly shows how quickly happiness can spread: https://youtu.be/1veWbLpGa78.
Troubles and challenges present themselves every day. The way we respond to them remains the ever-changing factor. Some days we may be more receptive to negativity, whereas other days we may combat it particularly well. But if you can find something that gets those pearly whites showing, then you may just “trick” your mind into releasing those endorphins and creating a happy feeling rather than staying in that unhappy state of mind. Mind over matter can truly help in some instances.
In no way does that mean that you shouldn’t grieve or be upset and validate that response, it simply means that you should then choose not to live in that state of mind.
Spread joy and happiness.
Life can throw some crazy hard times at us. We can feel like we have been knocked down with little hope. Having extra support can always help. But even without that option, we can choose to look at the positives to help us move forward and wade through the muck. Even if the positive is as trivial as you got up this morning. You got dressed today. Any simple appreciation for each and every day.
I’ll refer to Trolls today, those of you with littles will understand and if not, take it for what it is or watch the clip here: “I’m not giving up today, there’s nothing getting in my way. And if you knock, knock me over, I will get back up again!” Find that inner strength, grin, and get yourself to that happy place. Process and have your moment, but keep moving forward and allow that smile to shine through to soothe and make those moments brighter.
