I know what it feels like to go-go-go.
At one point in college, I was working six jobs while carrying 36 credit hours.
I could push.
I could perform.
I could outwork almost anyone.
But when I started having kids, something shifted. Not just my energy — my desire.
I still love full days.
I love productivity.
I love momentum.
But I also deeply love days where I can sit and read for hours.
Work on a puzzle.
Play board games with the kids.
Watch movies.
Let my brain breathe.
And here’s what I’ve learned:
When I push nonstop, my work suffers.
When I rest intentionally, my work sharpens.
Those slower days aren’t laziness.
They’re neurological resets.
They allow my brain to recharge.
They restore creativity.
They make my decisions clearer.
Rest doesn’t steal momentum. It fuels it.
Now, instead of waiting until I’m exhausted to rest, I build it into most days — even if it’s small.
Because the version of me who pauses?
She produces better work than the version who forces it.
Momentum built on depletion doesn’t last.
Momentum built on restoration does.
