The Beauty of Becoming: 6 Reasons You Don’t Have to Do Life or Business Perfectly to Move Forward

The Beauty of Becoming: 6 Reasons You Don’t Have to Do Life or Business Perfectly to Move Forward

What if the goal isn’t to finally “arrive,” but to become someone who can embrace wherever the journey takes you?

We put an awful lot of pressure on ourselves to get things right.

  • To make the right decision.
  • To build the right business.
  • To be the right kind of mom.
  • To have the right systems.
  • To respond perfectly when something goes wrong.
  • To know what we’re doing next.

And, somehow, we’re supposed to do all of this while also enjoying our lives. No pressure, right? 😂

But here’s what I’ve come to believe:

You don’t have to do life or business perfectly to be moving forward.

You need room to adjust.

  • Room to learn.
  • Room to celebrate.
  • Room to feel frustrated.
  • Room to forgive.
  • Room to change your mind.
  • Room to become.

Because becoming isn’t about reaching some final, polished version of yourself where you’ve figured everything out.

It’s about continuing to grow into the person, business owner, mother, partner, leader, and human being you’re capable of becoming.

And there’s actually a lot of beauty in that process.

1. Because Your Life Isn’t a Straight Line

We love a good five-step plan.

Step 1. Step 2. Step 3. Success!

Except life rarely cooperates that neatly.

  • Things happen.
  • Your priorities change.
  • Your kids grow.
  • Your business evolves.
  • Opportunities appear that you couldn’t have predicted.
  • Things you thought you wanted stop feeling important.
  • Things you never expected to want become incredibly meaningful.

If you treat every deviation from the original plan as a failure, you’ll spend a LOT of time feeling like you’re failing.

Instead, what if you treated your plan as a starting point rather than a contract?

  • You can have goals without being rigid about how you reach them.
  • You can have direction without knowing every turn you’re going to take.
  • You can change the plan without abandoning the destination.

Sometimes the pivot isn’t evidence that you got lost.

It’s evidence that you learned something.

2. Because Flexibility Is a Form of Strength

We often associate strength with endurance.

Push harder. Keep going. Don’t quit. Power through.

But there’s another kind of strength that doesn’t get nearly as much attention:

The ability to adjust.

  • Knowing when to push and when to pause.
  • Knowing when to hold a boundary and when to extend grace.
  • Knowing when something needs more effort and when it needs to be released.
  • Knowing when your original plan no longer fits the season you’re in.

Flexibility doesn’t mean you’re flaky or inconsistent. It means you’re paying attention.

And when you build a business around your actual capacity instead of pretending you have unlimited energy, time, and resources, you create something much more sustainable.

Sometimes the strongest decision you can make is: “Not right now.”

3. Because Abundance Requires More Than One Definition of Success

Abundance gets talked about a lot in business.

Usually, we’re talking about money.

More clients. More revenue. More growth.

And those things can absolutely be wonderful.

But abundance can also look like options.

  • Time.
  • Energy.
  • Creativity.
  • Support.
  • Connection.
  • Rest.
  • Freedom.
  • Being able to say no.
  • Being able to take an afternoon off without your entire business imploding.

Having a business that gives you more life instead of requiring your entire life in exchange for it.

That’s abundance, too. And sometimes the path toward more abundance isn’t doing more.

It’s creating space for more of what actually matters.

  • More space to think.
  • More space to breathe.
  • More space to be present.
  • More space to enjoy the thing you worked so hard to build.

4. Because Frustration Can Be Information

You’re going to get frustrated.

No business strategy, productivity system, morning routine, planner, or mindset shift will magically remove frustration from your life.

  • Your kid will ignore you.
  • A client will send something late.
  • A project will go sideways.
  • You’ll make a mistake.
  • Someone will misunderstand you.
  • You’ll misunderstand someone else.
  • Something will break five minutes before you need it.

That’s life.

The goal isn’t to become someone who never gets frustrated.
The goal is to become someone who knows how to move through frustration without letting it run the entire show.

Feel it. Express it. Take a breath. Then get curious.

  • What happened?
  • What contributed to it?
  • What can be repaired?
  • What needs to change?
  • Is there a lesson hiding in the frustration?

Sometimes frustration points directly at the place where a system, expectation, communication style, or boundary needs attention.

It doesn’t have to become a dead end.

It can become data.

5. Because Forgiveness Makes Room for Growth

People are going to make mistakes.

  • You will.
  • I will.
  • Our kids will.
  • Our clients will.
  • The people we love will.

That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have accountability. It doesn’t mean actions shouldn’t have consequences. It doesn’t mean we should ignore patterns of behavior that continue to hurt us.

Forgiveness isn’t forgetting.

And it isn’t saying, “What happened was okay.”

Sometimes forgiveness simply means refusing to let what happened consume every ounce of space you have moving forward.

It can leave room for someone to take responsibility. To make amends. To learn. To demonstrate that they’re trying to do better.

And sometimes, that person is you.

Because growth becomes really difficult when you’re constantly punishing yourself for the person you were before you knew what you know now.

  • You can acknowledge that you messed up.
  • You can take responsibility.
  • You can repair what you can.

And then you can choose to do differently moving forward.

You don’t have to remain stuck in an old version of yourself just because she made a mistake.

6. Because Becoming Is Something to Celebrate

This might be my favorite reason of all.

We are SO focused on what’s next.

  • The next goal.
  • The next launch.
  • The next income level.
  • The next milestone.
  • The next version of our business.

And there’s nothing wrong with ambition.

But if you’re always looking at the next thing, you can accidentally overlook the person standing here right now.

Look at what you’ve already learned, what you can handle now that once felt impossible, and the boundaries you didn’t have before.

  • The conversations you can now have.
  • The things you understand about yourself.
  • The business skills you’ve developed.
  • The decisions you make differently.
  • The things you no longer tolerate.
  • The things you finally give yourself permission to want.

That’s growth. That deserves to be celebrated.

Not just the big, shiny, Instagram-worthy milestones. The quiet ones count, too.

  • Sometimes becoming looks like a six-figure launch, or finally taking a Saturday off.
  • Sometimes it looks like asking for help, or saying no without explaining yourself for seventeen minutes.
  • Sometimes it looks like realizing that the goal you were chasing isn’t actually your goal anymore.

That’s still progress.

The Beauty Is in the Becoming

I have a planner page that says:

“Revel in the Beauty of the Becoming.”

And I think that’s such a beautiful reminder because becoming doesn’t require perfection. It requires participation.

You have to be willing to notice.

To learn, adjust, grow, celebrate, forgive, try again, release what no longer fits, and make space for what does.

Your life isn’t a test you’re supposed to ace. And your business isn’t a puzzle you have to solve perfectly before you’re allowed to enjoy it.

  • You’re building while you’re becoming.
  • You’re parenting while you’re becoming.
  • You’re leading while you’re becoming.
  • You’re figuring things out while you’re becoming.

And there will be seasons where everything feels beautifully aligned. There will also be seasons where you’re making it up as you go.

Both can be part of the process.

  • So make the plan.
  • Dream the big dream.
  • Go after the abundance.
  • Build the business.
  • Set the boundaries.
  • Take the opportunities.

But leave room for life to happen, too.

Because maybe moving forward isn’t always about moving faster. Maybe sometimes it’s about moving more intentionally. Maybe it’s about having enough space to respond instead of react.

  • Enough grace to learn instead of judge.
  • Enough flexibility to pivot instead of quit.
  • Enough confidence to celebrate instead of immediately moving the goalpost.

And enough curiosity to look at the woman you’re becoming and say:
“Ohhh… I really like where this is going.”

That’s the beauty.

Not finally having it all figured out.

Becoming someone who knows she doesn’t have to. 💜

Don’t Miss the Life You’re Building

Don’t Miss the Life You’re Building

Don’t Miss the Life You’re Building 💜
This week reminded me of something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately.
It’s so easy to keep chasing the next milestone.
🩵 The next client.
🩵 The next launch.
🩵 The next project.
🩵 The next goal.
And while there’s absolutely nothing wrong with ambition…
I don’t want to accidentally miss the life I’m building while I’m busy building it.
This week held a little bit of everything.
🫶 New clients.
🫶 Projects moving forward.
🫶 Helping friends.
🫶 Dreaming up new spaces in our home.
🫶 Watching my girls proudly dye my hair.
🫶 Planning for future preschool music classes.
🫶 Family laughter in the paint aisle.
🫶 Pizza, popcorn, and movie night.
None of those moments, on their own, seem extraordinary.
Together?
They make up a beautiful life.
One built intentionally.
One where work supports the memories instead of replacing them.
That’s the business I hope every mom builds.
Not one that demands every ounce of her…
But one that gives something back.
Because success isn’t just measured by what’s in your bank account.
It’s measured by whether you’re enjoying the life your hard work is creating.

We Did It Right

We Did It Right

This weekend was all about celebrating our youngest turning 8 💜
And we did it right.
• Boba Friday with treats
• Friends sleeping over
• A swim party Saturday (with cake pops + dinner at her pick 🥰)
• And sushi Sunday to wrap it all up
Every year, I make them a banner in the theme they choose—with their beautiful little faces all over it—and honestly, I love any excuse to make people feel special and celebrated.
At one point she said,
“I feel like we’re celebrating me so much!”
And I smiled and said,
“Yes… because we’re so glad we get to have you in our lives.”
And that right there?
That’s what this is all about.
Because while all of this was happening…
Life didn’t pause.
There were still messages, planning, responsibilities, the mental load…
and being interrupted approximately 2348973409872309487 times a day 😄
But THIS is the rhythm.
💜 The juggling.
💜 The choosing.
💜 The being present while still holding everything else together.
This is also exactly what I bring into my spaces.
🩵 Helping you create structure so your business doesn’t take over your life
🩵 Helping you organize and prioritize without the overwhelm
🩵 Helping you keep your sanity intact while building toward those $3–5k months
And also?
Making sure you feel seen, supported, and celebrated along the way.
Because you deserve that too.
Not just someday.
But right now.

Learning to Let Go

Learning to Let Go

Learning to let go… of control.

We made my hubby’s birthday cake in Feb.
All the kids contributed to making the batter.
Our youngest asked if she could scrape it into the pan.
I was trying to hurry and move on to our next to-do, so my knee-jerk reaction was, “I’m just going to do it real quick, okay?”
Pause.
Two beats later.
I stopped while holding the bowl and said, “You know what? Sorry. Yes, you absolutely can. Come here.” “YAY!” was the response with a little jump, then masterfully using the spatula to get every last drop.
Big sister took a turn as well.
It’s not that I didn’t want her to do it.
My head had made up the fact that it would take too long. It may have taken a minute or two longer, but it certainly didn’t impact our schedule negatively. haha
She was happy, I was happy, we had a beautiful cake when all was said and done.
Sometimes, we just need to pause and remind ourselves what’s important.
And in that moment, it was the MOST important.
(My perfectionist tendencies came out in them when I told them to poke holes and not worry about where to put them. They put them all in lines.)
When’s the last time you had to pause or SHOULD have paused?

Building a Life You Love

Building a Life You Love

Today, we’re diving into a topic that’s close to my heart: building a life you love, even amidst the chaos of motherhood and business.

Dreaming Beyond Motherhood

In the Mom Elevated Society, one of our guest experts spoke about creating a business and life you love, and it was amazing.

Today’s topic is about finding joy and purpose in our dreams, even when life feels overwhelming. Here’s a quote I love:

“A dream is what makes people love life even when it is painful.” — Theodore Zeldin

This resonates so much with me as a mom, because after having kids, it’s easy to lose sight of our dreams. We’re so focused on guiding these little humans, we sometimes forget about what lights us up. But here’s the thing: chasing those dreams, even slowly, is exactly what our kids need to see. It shows them that life doesn’t stop after having kids and that dreams are always worth pursuing.

Life Doesn’t Stop—It Evolves

When you have children, everything shifts. You become a new version of yourself. Your focus shifts to making sure they grow into decent, kind humans. But just because you’re raising kids doesn’t mean your personal growth should stop. In fact, continuing to work on yourself and showing your kids that you’re still chasing your dreams is one of the most important things you can do.

Every step, every little win, counts toward building a life you love. That’s a huge part of what I talk about in the Mom Elevated Society—growth and how it’s crucial for us as parents and individuals. Kids don’t just listen to what we say; they mimic what we do. And when they see us striving for better, they learn to do the same.

Growth Is a Process

It’s not about huge leaps—it’s about taking one step at a time toward your goals. Whether your dream is business-related or family-focused, the key is breaking it down into manageable steps. Celebrate those small victories, because that’s where the magic happens. You’re teaching your children how to set and achieve goals for themselves, and that lesson will stick with them forever.

I’ve learned so much on this journey, from starting out as a single mom to finding my husband and navigating all the twists and turns life throws our way. Through it all, I’ve found that staying true to my path brings happiness—not just for me, but for my family, too.

Building a Life You Love

So, how do you build a life you love? It starts with focusing on your own growth. Step by step, even when it’s hard, even when it feels like you’re not making any progress. You are. And your kids are watching. You’re showing them that it’s okay to keep growing, to keep reaching, and to keep dreaming.

Let’s leave off with that beautiful quote from earlier:

“A dream is what makes people love life even when it is painful.”

So take those small steps, mamas. Your dreams are worth it, and so are you.

If you’re looking for more in-depth support, check out the Mom Elevated Society.

I’m so excited to see what’s in store for us next!
