I’m popping in today to share a little heart-to-heart about something we all crave: a calm mind and a collected home.
Now, that phrase can look completely different for each of us.
For me? It doesn’t necessarily mean spotless floors and color-coded bins (though I do love a tidy space!). But after three kids, three pets, and a husband who isn’t quite as detail-oriented as I used to be, I’ve had to redefine what “calm” and “collected” actually mean in our home—and maybe you have, too.
Let’s talk about how to find that peace in the middle of chaos, and how small, actionable steps can help you create a space and mindset that supports you rather than stresses you out.
Step 1: Redefine “Calm” and “Collected” for YOU
What brings you peace might not be what brings someone else peace—and that’s totally okay.
- A collected home doesn’t have to be Pinterest-perfect.
- A calm mind doesn’t mean zero stress, but rather, the ability to breathe through it.
- Let go of the pressure to do it all, be it all, and keep it all together 100% of the time.
Give yourself permission to do what works best for your family—not what looks best on social media.
Step 2: Know That Your Decisions Are Valid
Whether you’re homeschooling, virtual schooling, or sending your kiddos back into the classroom… whether you’re using cloth diapers or going for Pampers… whether you’re breastfeeding, pumping, or formula feeding—you are making the right decision for your family.
It’s okay if it’s not perfect. It’s okay if you revisit the choice later and realize you want to shift gears. You made the best decision with the information, resources, and emotional energy you had at the time. That is enough.
Step 3: Take One Small Step at a Time
You don’t have to overhaul your entire life or home to feel more in control. Just start small:
- Tidy one corner of the room.
- Sort one drawer.
- Light a candle.
- Write out a basic weekly schedule.
Progress doesn’t need to be massive to be meaningful. Sometimes picking up a single toy leads to loading the dishwasher or wiping down the counters. Momentum is magic.
Step 4: Find Calm through Connection and Activities
We had two amazing guest experts in the Mom Elevated Society who shared simple, real-life strategies:
- 🌿 Danielle talked about the therapeutic benefits of gardening—getting your hands in the dirt can do wonders for a stressed-out mama mind.
- 🧺 Marie Jackson shared incredibly doable tips for organizing your home with kids underfoot. Life-changing. No overwhelm, just tiny, effective tweaks.
These are the kinds of tools we bring into the Society because business mamas need practical support, not more pressure.
Step 5: Remember the Power of Your Mindset
I always love sharing a good quote, and this one from the Dalai Lama hit home this week:
“A calm mind brings inner strength and self-confidence, so that’s very important for good health.”
Your mindset matters. When we stay in that negative, overwhelmed headspace, our health suffers—physically, emotionally, and mentally. But when we ground ourselves, trust our path, and choose peace (even if it’s messy peace), we give ourselves strength.
Bonus Tip: Let Support In
You don’t have to do motherhood alone. Whether it’s:
- Joining our free Mom Elevated group for encouragement, monthly networking, and quarterly masterclasses,
- Or diving deeper into the Mom Elevated Society for full access to expert sessions, monthly meetups, quarterly reflection and training, practical tools, and real connection…
Know that there’s a non-judgmental, resource-rich, heart-led space waiting for you.
Before I Go…
Let me know in the comments:
- How do YOU create a calm mind or a collected home?
- How old are your kiddos?
- What do you do?
Pop in, say hello, and ask me anything. I always circle back to respond because every mom deserves to be heard and acknowledged.
Let’s keep pushing forward, boss mamas. You’re doing amazing.
